THE ROLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

I listened to a teaching by Graham Cooke this morning in my devotional time about learning how to respond and cooperate with the Holy Spirit in every situation and circumstance we face in life. He encouraged us to ask a question ‘How would the Holy Spirit turn this situation and difficulty into an opportunity that I’m facing right now. What is our starting place when something comes your way? Fear, panic, anxiety, stress, blaming that person, sometimes we just freeze. The starting place should always be the role of the Holy Spirit. His starting point is always joy. Book of James says count it all joy when you face trials and temptations. The reason being joy always leads to expectation. A joy that you are going to receive an upgrade in your relationship with God and have a fresh encounter with Him. Remember every single thing we face is an opportunity to become more like Jesus. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places and the Holy Spirits job is to help us see from a heavenly perspective. If we start from a negative we will miss it. Learning to see from His perspective so we are not tossed around in our circumstances and controlled by negative emotions. The Holy Spirit is in us to connect us to see what Jesus sees.
