DISCIPLESHIP

“Come follow me Mark 1:17

Discipleship at its core. Who are you following because everybody is following somebody or at least something. Put it another way we are all disciples and so the question isn’t am I a disciple it’s Who or what am I a disciple of? We want to so believe that we plot our own course, captain our own ship, and control our own destiny. We aspire to learn but not follow. Come follow me is encapsulates discipleship.

To follow Jesus is to become His apprentice and that means you organize your entire life around 3 driving goals.

Be with Jesus

Become like him

Do as he did

Apprentice to Jesus that is following Jesus is a whole process of being with Jesus for the purpose of becoming like Him and carrying on His ministry in the world. It’s a life-long journey in which we gradually learn to say and learn to say and do the kinds of things Jesus said and did as we apprentice under Him

A disciple is a noun, not a verb. It's what you do. It's not just a learner but a practitioner one who is diligently working to be with and become like their master.

The problem in the West we have created a false gospel where you can be a Christian but not an apprentice of Jesus.

For Jesus salvation is less about getting into heaven and more about getting heaven to you. It's not just about Him becoming like us but about us becoming like Him.

It's less about transaction and more about transformation.
